StyleBOOM Fashion Showcase Event
I’m taking every opportunity I can to get out and shoot…..that is why I bought my camera....right?! Sometimes it’s good to just hit an event from time to time and just shoot the environment. It’s also a good way to network and meet other individuals within, fashion, photography, design, etc. The StyleBOOM event was a nice change of pace, and allowed me to have good conversation with some folks and possibly make contacts for future projects. It was a collaboration between the fashion stylist team the Style Dolls and designer Ris Tena of HoneyBoom…………hence the name StlyeBOOM!

Starting off 2012 on a good note!
So far in 2012 I've had something to shoot almost every weekend! Hopefully things keep this pace and/or get busier! I'm looking forward to spending some serious time behind the camera. This year I plan to enter more photography contest, and do more creative projects using prime lenses (35, 50 and 85mm). Learn, grow, create!

Michigan Central
A quick drive by my favorite Detroit landmark led me to this shot. This was the first time I've been able to catch a train coming in from Canada. Just my luck it stopped for a bit! This shot tells the story of rail transportation and it's struggles!

Beauty and the Bass
I wanted to get some more studio time in before 2011 ended, so I called up Shalika (MUA) and Paige (Hair) to see if they wanted to do another shoot. Shalika found us a beautiful model by the name of Saskia, who brought her own unique style to the shoot. The concept was basically a girl and guitar……in the end it turned out to truly be “Beauty and the Bass”.

My First Beauty Shoot In Studio
Sometimes in life when an opportunity arises you have to jump on it. This was the case when makeup artist Jungle Rose posted a Facebook message looking for a photographer to collaborate on a Beauty shoot; I quickly put my name in the hat! After we set the date I began researching what an industry standard beauty look was. I actually found some good info on lighting styles and setups, and shortly after reading, figured out what type of lighting I was going to use. So as you can see from these shots, it looks like my research began to pay off.So now I really like the studio fashion thing, and hope to build my proficiency in lighting setups and learning how to interact with a model.Check out Jungle Rose Beauty at: http://junglerosebeauty.com

Naturally Fly
I wanted to take some time out to work on a personal project, an idea to embrace those women with natural hair. From a photographers point of view, a natural hair style is full of texture and color....but my original vision was for black and white photos. To start this off I called on two friends of mine, KJ & Shenek because I figured they would be perfect candidates....and indeed they were!! I look forward to continuing on with this over time, with the goal of having enough images to put together my own photobook.

Alvertia & Mike 8.28.10
Working with couples who have such a natural chemistry makes a photographer's job 10 times easier. Such was the case with Alvertia & Mike who rolled with the punches and didn't require much direction.
